ICW is actively researching housing options in the Ann Arbor area that will provide more independent living for individuals with disabilities in a community setting. Several housing options are being investigated including, but not limited to, rental property, condominiums and new construction. The Housing Options Committee is using agreed upon criteria to choose the best available model for ICW’s residences. Residents will receive necessary support services, will be overseen by a resident liaison and will be assisted in actively participating in the ICW community and the community at large. The ICW housing model is based on the model created by the Center for Independent Futures® (CIF) in Illinois. CIF now has three successful operational residences. In May 2008 ICW will open its first community. To learn more about the Summerfield Glen property, visit the Norfolk Homes site.
